Paediatric Feeding Group: Brave Bites
What Is Brave Bites?
Brave Bites is a 6-week therapeutic feeding group for children ages 4–7 who find eating new or different foods challenging. Whether mealtimes feel overwhelming, textures are tricky, or food routines are stuck in a loop, this group offers a playful approach to build confidence and nurture curiosity around meals.
Our Treatment Approach:
This program is led by two highly experienced Speech-Language Pathologists with extensive backgrounds supporting children with diverse feeding needs. One therapist brings a deep focus on paediatric feeding and swallowing, while one therapist has years of experience working with neurodivergent children and supporting communication and sensory needs in early childhood. Together, they offer a thoughtful, individualized approach that blends clinical expertise with warmth, creativity, and a strong understanding of how to help children feel safe, confident, and supported as they explore new foods—making this program both therapeutic and truly child-centered.
Each week, children will engage in sensory food play, practice oral motor skills, and prepare different foods with their new friends for a group meal. These shared experiences gently encourage curiosity, flexibility, and connection around food. This group is built around trust, safety, consistency, and celebration of small steps.
Food is never forced—children are encouraged to explore at their own pace, with lots of modelling, encouragement, and fun. The foods provided will be selected with care: simple, minimally processed, and free of top allergens. Visual supports (e.g., first/then boards, visual schedules, taste rating scales) will be used throughout.
Brave Bites helps children build confidence, flexibility, and a healthier relationship with food—one bite at a time.
